Directed by Asif Kapadia, who is an Academy Award, Grammy and four time BAFTA winning Producer / Director / Writer who works across both film and television. Kapadia is known for his emotionally engaging, visually striking, genre breaking films exploring ‘outsiders’ characters living in extreme circumstances, fighting against a corrupt or broken system and the price of fame. He has worked in drama and documentaries, Kapadia is best known for his trilogy of narratively driven, archive constructed documentaries SENNA, AMY & DIEGO MARADONA.

Creature’s success lies in how it uses the inseparable relationship between music and image to construct the cold, harsh reality where a story of suffering is told and yet draws us in with the magnetism of the cinematic dance experience. While the film’s intensely relentless score drives the narrative, it is punctuated with audiovisual juxtapositions that transport us through the atmospheres of exploration, uncertainty, militancy and love. The soundtrack is meticulously edited with choreographed glitches and sweeping orchestral and electronic layers, bound together by an historical audio track featuring Nixon in the 60s to remind us that we will again and again tell stories of despots and the lovers who thwart them, and that music and sound will always be alongside the telling of those stories.
El éxito de Creature reside en cómo recurre a la inseparable relación entre música e imagen para construir la fría y dura realidad en la que se narra una historia de sufrimiento y, sin embargo, nos atrae con el magnetismo de la experiencia cinematográfica de la danza. Mientras la intensa e implacable banda sonora de la película conduce la narración, ésta se ve salpicada de yuxtaposiciones audiovisuales que nos transportan a través de las atmósferas de la exploración, la incertidumbre, la militancia y el amor. La banda sonora está meticulosamente editada con glitches coreografiados y arrolladoras capas orquestales y electrónicas, unidas por una pista de audio histórica que muestra a Nixon en los años 60 para recordarnos que una y otra vez contaremos historias de déspotas y de amantes que los frustran, y que la música y el sonido siempre acompañarán la narración de esas historias.
