Press: Defying Gravity
Cherry Beach Sound, July 2009
This month Toronto based recording studio, Cherry Beach Sound welcomed Defying Gravity to host a Source-Connect session out of Sharpe Sound Studios based in Vancouver, Canada. During the sessions we recorded ADR for the upcoming ABC Sci-Fi TV show with Canadian actress Karen LeBlanc (scientist, Eve Shaw) and Canadian actor Dylan Taylor (theoretical physicist, Steve Wassenfleder). Defying Gravity comes from producers James Parriott (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Michael Edelstein. The show is based in the near future in which eight astronauts from five different countries take on a six-year international space mission on the spaceship Antares. The show was inspired by Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets, a fictional documentary about an expedition through the solar system. Defying Gravity premiers Sunday, August 2nd on ABC.
Press: The imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Cherry Beach Sound, September 2008
We were privileged to have Canadian theater, film and television actor Christopher Plummer with us this week, where he performed ADR for his latest feature film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The session was recorded live via source-connect directly to Art4noise Studios in London England.
Plummer remains one of the most respected and honored actors performing in the English language. He’s won two Emmy Awards out of six nominations stretching 46 years from 1959 and 2005, and one Genie Award in five nominations from 1980 to 2004. For his stage work, Plummer has racked up two Tony Awards on six nominations. In 1968 he was a made a Companion of the Order of Canada, the country’s highest civilian honor and one which requires the approval of the sovereign. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is an upcoming fantasy-adventure mystery film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam and Charles McKeown. In the film, the leader of a traveling theater troupe, through a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations.
